A vacancy exists at The Grand Bahama Utility Company, Limited for one (1) Utility Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• BSc. in Engineering (preferably in Civil Engineering)
• Recognized course in CAD/GIS or related training
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications
• Five years of related experience in Project Management
• Five years of related experience in Water Utility
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Demonstrate knowledge of engineering design theory and practice, project management, construction and contract management, water resources, water/wastewater facilities and utility operations.
• Knowledge of all related legislative, framework and Codes requirements and standards.
• Experience working with Reverse Osmosis systems is preferred, but not required.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget.
• Self-starter, excellent analytical, negotiating and communication (written and oral) skills.
• Ability to interact with a wide variety of personnel and organizations, maintain and establish positive working relationships with all company departments.
• Exercise excellent time management skills and perform as a team player.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review and execute Capital Projects for water/sewerage projects, including specifications and selection of mechanical, mobile, and electrical equipment.
• Management of Utility wellfields, water plants, reverse osmosis systems and technology to ensure water quality, demand management, asset management and proper preventive maintenance for equipment.
• Prepare engineering designs, bidding, and contractual documents for capital investment projects.
• Supervise field and contract personnel to ensure timely completion of assignments, within budget and adherence to standards.
• Prepare capital appropriations progress reports and other periodic reports.
• Research and deliver water system information to departments and outside individuals or agencies using Geographic Information System (GIS) information.
• Maintain records and analyze water pumped, pressure, rainfall, chlorides, chlorine usage from data furnished on daily production report.
• Stamp plans for approval of service and provide the cost for metered services or well permits.
• Develop, implement, and maintain an infrastructure asset management registry and inventory database.
• Develop and implement strategies for process improvement, including initiatives that support efforts to reduce apparent losses/Non-Revenue water, Demand Management, and Conservation.
• Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position and functions of the Department.
